Many struggle with reading the Word of God at anytime, much less thinking about reading it all the way through.
I understand. Some struggle with reading for various reasons, while others find it not to be simply uninteresting.
What if God commanded you to ingest His Word and in the doing so you find the nuggets of truth that strengthen you for the day, for the moment, and for the situation you find yourself in?
Psalms 119:11 says, “Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.”
Other translation might butcher the language a little bit, but there are other descriptor words and phrases that make it clearer to some readers:
- The Message: ” I’ve banked your promises in the vault of my heart so I won’t sin myself bankrupt.”
- BBE: “I have kept your sayings secretly in my heart, so that I might do no sin against you.”
- CEV: “I treasure your word above all else; it keeps me from sinning against you”
- ESV: “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
So, even though many use the King James (sometimes called the KJV or Authorized Version) as their base Word of preaching, teaching and studying, at times the other translations bring out the truths of God’s Word in a way that means more to the reader.
This year, let’s focus our time on storing up the Word of God in our hearts to keep us from Sin!
